Not sure of your numbers? Your phone provider can usually export a call log showing answered vs missed. Estimating is fine: the point is the order of magnitude, not the decimal place.

Revenue walking out the door$97,500per year · $8,125 a month
  • Calls missed each week13
  • Calls missed each year650
  • Customers lost each year195
  • An AI receptionist, year one$3,385

At this volume the build pays for itself in about under a month.

Want this as a written breakdown, with what an agent would actually cost at your call volume? We will send it over: no call required.

One email. No sequence, no newsletter.

Nothing hidden in the maths.

missed per week = calls per week × share missed

customers lost per year = missed per week × 52 × close rate

revenue lost = customers lost × value of a customer

That is the whole model. We have deliberately not baked in an industry-average missed-call rate, because those averages vary so widely by trade that applying one would make the output look more authoritative than it deserves. The figure is only as good as the four numbers you put in: which is why they are yours to set rather than ours to assume.

Questions we get a lot.

How does the calculation work?

Calls per week multiplied by the share you miss gives missed calls per week. Multiplied by 52 gives the annual figure. Multiplied by your close rate gives customers lost, and multiplied by customer value gives the revenue figure. Every step is shown on the page so you can check it against your own numbers.

Is this based on research or estimates?

It is arithmetic on figures you supply, not a study. We deliberately do not apply an industry-average missed-call rate or close rate, because those vary enormously by trade and would make the output look more authoritative than it is. The accuracy of the answer depends entirely on the accuracy of your four inputs.

What counts as a missed call?

Any call that rings out, goes to voicemail, or is answered but not properly handled because everyone was busy. Most businesses underestimate this because missed calls leave no record: that is precisely why the number is worth working out.

Why is the result not behind an email form?

Because gating a number you could work out on paper is irritating, and a tool people can use freely gets shared and linked to. You can request a written breakdown by email if you want one, but the calculation itself is yours either way.

Would an AI receptionist actually catch all of these?

It answers every call, so in principle yes, but not every answered call converts. Treat the figure as the size of the opportunity rather than guaranteed recovered revenue. If the maths is marginal at your volume, we will say so.

Want us to check the number against your real call log?

Most phone systems can export one. Send it over and we will tell you what is actually being missed, rather than what you estimate is.
